The problem with the reflection was due to the way inkscape rendered blurs for transformed (skewed, etc...) objects. It has been fixed now (the about screen too) and in the release it will look perfectly
Thanks for the congrats!
Ah yes, I have an older pre-release atm and the same thing happened to a reflection (curiously also on an orb) I was attempting for my site's logo (phototennis.co.nr). I must download the newer pre-release once it's available in Intel binary. To Sourceforge!
>>would have been good to do this contest using openclipart library cchost tho...
Well, the main (and only) object used in this about screen is a cristal ball I made specially as a OpenClipart entry some time ago. See it here: [link]
Inkscape is a small open source vector drawing software available in a multitude of platforms (mac, Win, Linux).
It produces SVG (scalable vector graphics), it is fast and has incredible features. Try it!
The about screen featured here has been produced in Inkscape, and is fully vector (even the blur effects!!!!)
The version I used to create this graphic is 0.45, it is still in development and will be available only in January. It contains some new features that you won't find in 0.44.1, like the blur feature. You can download version 0.45 (beta) from the inkscape.org website (hopefully it will work soon).
